Gambling Awareness Day October 19 Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The Bingo Association has announced that October 19 will be their Gambling Awareness Day.  They chose the same day as GamCare’s annual conference, whether purposely or not, and that seems to be an appropriate way to raise awareness for the issue of safety for both operators and players throughout the UK.  The association will be creating online adverts as well as using various local and national events to increase education of safety issues.

The UK Bingo Association is a trade association for licensed bingo operators throughout the UK.  The group is also a member of the larger European group, EUBINGO.  All of the members of that group help with the collection and interpreting of data collected regarding the online bingo industry and also with informing members of any legislative activity that may affect online bingo.

Other trade associations that also look out for player safety are GamCare and Gamble Aware so just because a site is not yet affiliated with the Bingo Association does not mean that they are not a safe place to play.  It is always a good idea to look for some sort of third party, independent certification when checking out a new online bingo site.
